An image grab released by Al-Jazeera television on August 21, 2012, shows part of a video broadcast by the pan-Arab channel, in which Dutch national Sjaak Rijke, who was taken captive in northern Mali almost nine months ago by the Qaida-linked Al-Din movement, appears in an undisclosed location in Mali with fellow hostages Swede Johan Gustafson and South African-Briton Stephen Malcom. The men are shown wearing traditional robes and turbans, and according to Al-Jazeera are heard calling for their respective countries to engage in quick and rapid negotiations with their kidnappers to obtain their release.
