IFA 2011: is het nou een telefoon of een tablet
Wat past er in de gemiddelde binnenzak? In ieder geval een kleine tablet pcmet een scherm van 5,3 inch. Of is de nieuwe Samsung Galaxy Note het toch een grote telefoon?
Samsungs beste antwoord op de iPad is niet de 10 inch Galaxy Tab die sinds kort te koop is. Zolang Android nog weinig software voor de grote schermmaten heeft, kan een afwijkende tablet op meer interesse reken dan een zoveelste iPad-kloon. Op elektronicabeurs IFA introduceerde de Koreaanse fabrikant twee nieuwe tablet pc’s: de Galaxy Tab 7 met een 7,7 inch scherm en de Galaxy Note met een 5,3 inch scherm. De Note heeft het interessantste formaat. Je kunt m met wat goede wil als telefoon gebruiken en als tablet makkelijk in een hand houden. Met het meegeleverde pennetje (zie filmpje) kun je schrijven en tekenen. Handschriftherkenning werkt ook, zij het nog niet vlekkeloos.
De prijs en beschikbaarheid van de Galaxy Note zijn nog niet bekend voor Nederland. Naar verwachting wordt het toestel iets duurder dan de Galaxy SII, de smartphone die zonder abonnement zo’n 600 euro kost. De afwerking, zowel van de Galaxy Note als van de Galaxy Tab 7.7 is een stuk beter dan de plastic achterkant van de huidige Samsung line-up. Ook de schermtechnologie, Super Amoled, is geavanceerder dan die in de Galaxy Tab 10.1. Mede daardoor zal ook de Galaxy 7.7 waarschijnlijk duurder uitvallen dan de 10.1 inch versie (die kost 479 euro).
